Quick Fix For French Manicure

Author: fefe  June 9th, 2008

I used to visit nail salon at least once a month to keep my nails at its peak condition. No chipping nails allowed, no yellow ridges can be seen and of course finished it up with french manicure. It’s always in my top list. One problem that I face would be time and appointment to the salons. Sometimes when I charge the services fee to my credit card, I doubt if this is all necessary and if there is another alternative I can adopt to save my wallet from thinning. And then I found this.

It’s Sally Hansen 5 minute french manicure kit. It comes with base and top coat, the nail colour and a pen kit that touches the last part of the beauty for french manicure. I bought it, I tried it and guess what, I love it. The first few try-outs were tormenting as I didn’t know how to hold the pen and draw on my nails. But then after, I have become an artist myself. Buy it from any Watsons or Guardians store. Most importantly, for an affordable price, you can use it for more than twenty times.

No more saggy eyes after party!

Author: fefe  June 2nd, 2008

I was so intrigued by this product. I wanted to have a first hand on it but I can’t coz I am scrimping like mad now. This is one of the geniuses’ product by MAC, it’s called Fast Response eye cream and the effect is like what it is named after - almost immediate. So after a whole night of partying, all we need is to slap some on our eyes. It absorbs quickly and repair the dryness in our eyes area. Cool it sounds :) Can’t wait to get one for myself :p

Loreal - High Intensity Pigments(HIP)

Author: Andrienne  March 11th, 2007

MAC has it(a very successful one), MUFE has it & even Bobbi Brown has it. But all these are departmental store brands that some of the students on budget couldn’t afford.

But fret no more as drugstore brand, Loreal is now introducing their new line of cosmetics called High Intensity Pigments or HIP in short.

The complete set for their eye colour range includes

  • concentrated shadow duos
  • bright shadow duos
  • pure pigments shadow sticks
  • shoking shadow pigments
  • high drama volumnising mascara

As for the face range, it includes

  • flawless liquid makeup
  • vibrant shimmer bronzing powder
  • blendable blushing creme
  • illuminating highlighter

Pigments stick

Pigment that comes together with a brush

I really can’t wait for it to come. But as said before, it was out in the US for just a few months. So, I guess we’ll have to wait for at least 6 more months before it hits Malaysia market.

More of LE cosmetics & gift packs.

Author: Andrienne  December 11th, 2006

Yes…I am back with more of the cosmetics gift packs since it’s drawing near Christmas now. I am sure a lot of people will be scratching their hairs out from their heads on what to buy as gifts. Don’t fret, Miss Lil Disaster So-Called-Know-It-All is here to help!

I was walking at KLCC just now & I saw Benefit’s Dallas Palette at Parkson. What attracted me to write about this gift set is that they can make you look like a million bucks. If I can look like a million bucks, I will never have to work again & pay with my look since I have a million bucks in my look.

So yes, back to the Dallas thingy…as from the Benefit booklet I took from the counter(I lost the one from CLEO), it’s an outdoor glow for the indoor gal! Benefit’s favorite pressed powder in sun-kissed rose is paired with opulent gold-flecked shades of pinks and browns for eyes and lips - to make you look like a million bucks. It makes me wonder now, how can shades of pink & browns make us look like a million bucks? I thought it was supposed to be gold shades or silver shades? I tried on the gold-flecked shades on at the counter but the gold-flecks are not enough to make onlookers realise it. But it’s still worth it though cause it’s just for RM155.

The palette includes: .05 oz eyeshadows in soft pink shimmer and soft plum shimmer and two .04 oz lip shines in plum shimmer and golden pink plus a 0.10 Dallas Powder (sunkissed rose) and brush and a dual ended applicator brush.

The next one that I would like to introduce(okay…I know a lot of you know bout this already) is the Benefit’s The best of Benefit. It consists of Benefit’s top three selling products namely Benetint, Badgal Lash & Dandelion(I tried this on & it’s superb! But it’s too expensive that I couldn’t afford it). But the thing that I love most is the description in the book:

Once upon a time, in the faraway land of Benefit, there lived three sweet & pretty beauties…one so flirty, she turned all cheeks to rosy flush. Another so perky, she brightened faces with her ballerina-pink prettiness. And the last, so sexy, she grabbed all the attention with her big, black lashes. Meet the best of benefit! From us to you….live gorgeously ever after!

How creative is that? Anyway, here’s the pic:

One of my personal favourite is this, the mini pink brush set(note=the brushes aren’t pink. only the purse is). Its is actually a purse-sized trifold case containing five essential brushes which are a brow brush/lash comb, blush brush, eyeshadow blender, crease brush, and lip brush. I found this at Sephora selling for $16. With the convertion rate of 3.8, it would be around RM60.80. Yes, would be a bit expensive. But to see the smile on your loved one’s face would be really priceless.

Stila lipglaze have been a big favourite to a lot of you here at MYB(& other places as well). So I decided to walkaround & saw this Stila - The Gift of Glaze at Parkson KLCC. It is a limited-edition mini lip glaze set. Notice the word mini as it’s not in full size. As boasted by Stila, this high impact shine plus subtle scent in a click-pen applicator, lip glaze is the best in gloss. Stila has selected six of their most beloved shades and created mini versions for holiday.

Package includes Vanilla (sheer champagne shimmer), Brown sugar (shimmering bronze), apricot (sheer peach), grapefruit (sheer pink), Starfruit (shimmering rose) and raspberry (sheer fuchsia).

That’s all for now.

Christmas LE packs.

Author: Andrienne  November 30th, 2006

forlic_pjann gave me a great idea what should i write about before flying off to Bangkok(yes, I am heading off tomorrow morning. can’t wait to shop till i drop & thanks frolic for giving me the idea!). It’s the time of the year where we have to cramp our brains to figure out what’s the suitable presents for our loved ones. But I guess when it comes to friends, soul sisters, bioligical sisters & mum, we sure can count on the LE sets that are being created by leading cosmetics brands for this festive season as gifts.

I do believe in giving others gifts that we personally like it ourselves(the same goes to how you treat others. if you want someone to treat you pretty well, then you must do the same as well!). Therefore, I will normally give things I personally like to my loved ones(except that I DO NOT give cosmetics to my father, my brother, my boyfriend & my boy friends. But I do give them skincare as gifts sometimes). So yes, I am gonna start off with limited editions cosmetics from leading cosmetic brands(sit tight ladies!).

First up is YSL Gold Celebration Palette Star Glow at rm183. I tried to find infos on it, but I failed(sorry girls! But will try to find more soon…).

Yves Saint Laurent Gold Celebration Palette Star Glow

Here’s one of my personal favourite….Lancome Glossy Charms Bracelet Ultra Shiny Hydrating Lip Gloss at RM95(phew….thank god I managed to pronounce it nicely after a few tries). It is said to have a delicious combination of 3 delicate, fresh and light shades with irresistible flavours. These 3 Juicy Tubes secretly leave a halo of light on your lips for glamorous makeup and a delicious mouth. What’s more, it can be used as a bracelet around your wrist of it can be used as an accessory to your bag or even belt!

Lancome Glossy Charms Bracelet

Next up is Benefit Valley of the Stars priced at RM145. It is a mini kit with to keep you shining like a star all night long(this definitely fulfill your dream of becoming a beauty queen)for party. The set includes Moon Beam which acts as warm golden luminizer for face, High Beam as soft pink luminizer for face, Her Glossiness lip gloss which gives a sheer pink shimmer onto your lips & soft shimmering eyeshadows in tequila gold and snow white.

Benefit Valley of the Stars

Benefit Valley of the StarsAnd yes, my favourite one, Dior Pretty Charms which is priced at RM170. It is adorned by Swarovski crystals with padlocks that has matching lipstick & lipgloss. This will definitely make the owner feels like a pwwwwinnnnncesssss(or might be a queen…that is if you want to).Benefit Valley of the Stars

Dior Pretty Charms

Stila Holiday Deluxe Palette (some might say it as Stila Night Flower Deluxe Palette which confuses me a lot as till now, I still don’t know whether they are the same of different) priced at RM130 is a great investment as gift as it contains four eyeshadows, one lip colour, one lip glaze & one cheek colour. The pretty floral decorated compact includes a mirror for easy application and touch-ups on the go.

shown here is Stila Night Flower Deluxe Palette

& yes, to all the MAC fans out there, MAC launched the dress set few weeks ago in KL! I do not think that I need to elaborate any further about MAC dress set as I know there are already a lot of MAC fans here. Anyway, here’s the pic:
