Chloe Goes Retro

Despite the lukewarm response towards Chloe’s performance at the recent Spring 2007 shows, the label - mostly famous in Malaysia for its to-die-for Paddington bags - still tops my list in terms of wearability and good, internationally marketable designs. Sure, looks that infuse arts and abstract ideas stand out when stomping down the runaways but they are usually the practical and classic presentations that make women pull for their purses.

This time around, Chloe’s show is certainly littered with practicality and sales driven pieces. In fact, the label opts for retro charms, possibly thanks to the hype celebrity fashionistas have spun over vintage clothing.

There are the minis in colours consisting of mainly white, brown and mustard yellow (colours which I have always associated with retro, for some peculiar reasons) and even a bright neon jacket. Balloon shapes are still in, as well as volumes (cutesy puffed sleeves, voluminous jackets). Embellishments (yay!) are back and so are prints (bye bye boring pastels). The waistline is again shifting up north, with several high waisted looks went on parade.

LOVES: Mini shirt dresses, precious embellishments.
