Loreal – High Intensity Pigments(HIP)

posted by:

MAC has it(a very successful one), MUFE has it & even Bobbi Brown has it. But all these are departmental store brands that some of the students on budget couldn’t afford.

But fret no more as drugstore brand, Loreal is now introducing their new line of cosmetics called High Intensity Pigments or HIP in short.

The complete set for their eye colour range includes

  • concentrated shadow duos
  • bright shadow duos
  • pure pigments shadow sticks
  • shoking shadow pigments
  • high drama volumnising mascara

As for the face range, it includes

  • flawless liquid makeup
  • vibrant shimmer bronzing powder
  • blendable blushing creme
  • illuminating highlighter

Pigments stick

Pigment that comes together with a brush

I really can’t wait for it to come. But as said before, it was out in the US for just a few months. So, I guess we’ll have to wait for at least 6 more months before it hits Malaysia market.

Valentine’s Day

posted by:

With the title above, I’m pretty sure a lot of you would know what I’m gonna blog about this time.

It’s that time of the year again in less than one month & I see a lot of forums are putting up thread on how to celebrate this occassion, what to give, what to wear, what to do, how to ruin it(some of us are definitely pathetic nowadays), how not to be single on valentine’s day & yadayadayada.

To most of the singles, I bet Valentine’s day would be the most dreadful day in the yearly calender because this would be the day when you see a lot of lovey dovey couples & this sends you straight to hell wondering why you’re the one that is looking & not the one being looked at.

There’s nothing to be worried about whether or not you’re single on Valentine’s day because you won’t be punished on that. Trust me. If you can’t celebrate with your partner, celebrate it with friends or parents/family. Valentine doesn’t cater only to lovers….it caters to all type of love in the world.

Celebrate the love of your parents towards you ever since you came into this world with much appreciation. You do not need to wait till Mother’s Day or Father’s Day to show it(best to show it 24/7). Celebrate the friendship you have with your besties. Honour the love your besties give to you as friends & how they stood by you during the toughest time. There’s nothing sweeter than being celebrated & honoured.

Honour yourself on that day as well by pampering yourself. It’s a day for us to celebrate love indeed…therefore, love yourself to the maximum. Indulge in spa/manicure/facial with a friend (or you can choose to do it alone). Treat yourself to fancy restaurants & buy yourself flowers(if you wanna save money, pluck it from your neighbour’s garden). This is certainly a great way to build up your self confidence cause when you’re happy, you’ll look way prettier than before.

For couples, if any of you could, try to cook a dinner or do something on your own instead of just paying your way cause it wouldn’t be so memorable in the end. Personally, I think that it would just be a normal dinner like how I always eat out with him. The only difference is he has to burn a whole in his pocket for this ’special’ valentine’s meal. You certainly don’t want your guy to fork out so much & have to eat nothing but grass for the rest of the month eh?

Do some memorable stuffs like putting a collage of pictures you & your partner took together for as long as you guys are together. Do a time capsule by going back to the places you guys went together before & take pics of the places. From those pics, you can make a story from it or whatever you like to do base on your creativity.

If you wanna make your own cards, get inspiration from those cards selling at memory lane. They have catchy phrases & funky lines that are sure to make your partner float(at least it made me floated when he presented me with one of the memory lane card). o means to offend anyone but I once had a boyfriend that’s chinese ed & the card he gave me was one of the most memorable one(sorry to my current boyfriend).

It’s nothing much actually…no fancy decos or expensive materials used. It’s just a few words from him. He’s not good in English & seldom uses English in front of me because he was embarrassed to use it. But on that Valentine I spent with him, he purposely did a card that was written in English because he knows that I do not understand Chinese characters. It was thoughtful of him as I know how much he hated to write or converse in English in front of me as he doesn’t want me to look down at him. Nevertheless, the card had its fair share of grammar mistakes(broken English as well), but it made me felt contented for what I have because of his sincerity & the trouble he went through to do me that card.

Don’t be afraid to try & make things by your own because you will never know how your sincerity would touch someone deeply enough for that someone to remember you for as long as he can.

More of LE cosmetics & gift packs.

Yes…I am back with more of the cosmetics gift packs since it’s drawing near Christmas now. I am sure a lot of people will be scratching their hairs out from their heads on what to buy as gifts. Don’t fret, Miss Lil Disaster So-Called-Know-It-All is here to help!

I was walking at KLCC just now & I saw Benefit’s Dallas Palette at Parkson. What attracted me to write about this gift set is that they can make you look like a million bucks. If I can look like a million bucks, I will never have to work again & pay with my look since I have a million bucks in my look.

So yes, back to the Dallas thingy…as from the Benefit booklet I took from the counter(I lost the one from CLEO), it’s an outdoor glow for the indoor gal! Benefit’s favorite pressed powder in sun-kissed rose is paired with opulent gold-flecked shades of pinks and browns for eyes and lips – to make you look like a million bucks. It makes me wonder now, how can shades of pink & browns make us look like a million bucks? I thought it was supposed to be gold shades or silver shades? I tried on the gold-flecked shades on at the counter but the gold-flecks are not enough to make onlookers realise it. But it’s still worth it though cause it’s just for RM155.

The palette includes: .05 oz eyeshadows in soft pink shimmer and soft plum shimmer and two .04 oz lip shines in plum shimmer and golden pink plus a 0.10 Dallas Powder (sunkissed rose) and brush and a dual ended applicator brush.

The next one that I would like to introduce(okay…I know a lot of you know bout this already) is the Benefit’s The best of Benefit. It consists of Benefit’s top three selling products namely Benetint, Badgal Lash & Dandelion(I tried this on & it’s superb! But it’s too expensive that I couldn’t afford it). But the thing that I love most is the description in the book:

Once upon a time, in the faraway land of Benefit, there lived three sweet & pretty beauties…one so flirty, she turned all cheeks to rosy flush. Another so perky, she brightened faces with her ballerina-pink prettiness. And the last, so sexy, she grabbed all the attention with her big, black lashes. Meet the best of benefit! From us to you….live gorgeously ever after!

How creative is that? Anyway, here’s the pic:

One of my personal favourite is this, the mini pink brush set(note=the brushes aren’t pink. only the purse is). Its is actually a purse-sized trifold case containing five essential brushes which are a brow brush/lash comb, blush brush, eyeshadow blender, crease brush, and lip brush. I found this at Sephora selling for $16. With the convertion rate of 3.8, it would be around RM60.80. Yes, would be a bit expensive. But to see the smile on your loved one’s face would be really priceless.

Stila lipglaze have been a big favourite to a lot of you here at MYB(& other places as well). So I decided to walkaround & saw this Stila – The Gift of Glaze at Parkson KLCC. It is a limited-edition mini lip glaze set. Notice the word mini as it’s not in full size. As boasted by Stila, this high impact shine plus subtle scent in a click-pen applicator, lip glaze is the best in gloss. Stila has selected six of their most beloved shades and created mini versions for holiday.

Package includes Vanilla (sheer champagne shimmer), Brown sugar (shimmering bronze), apricot (sheer peach), grapefruit (sheer pink), Starfruit (shimmering rose) and raspberry (sheer fuchsia).

That’s all for now.

I am back!

Yes….I am finally back after my four days trip to Bangkok & I am already missing my shopping heaven. I wanna stay a bit longer there….but was taken back because I missed my home more than I miss Bangkok.

I stayed at Baiyoke Suite because Baiyoke Sky was fully booked & girls(and boys as well la) DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT stay in Baiyoke Suite because the facilities are way too old & the heater would be cold all of a sudden & you have to wait 5 minutes before it recovers back to hot(hopefully I will not get sued for saying this).

Remember to shop at Platinum Plaza as they boast to have more than 1300 wholesale shops(in which you have to buy at least three pieces in one shop to get wholesale price. Some do not let you mix & match with other designs. Some will but with condition that you add 10 to 20 baht). & yes, do stay at the Baiyoke area as that is the wholesale area(Platinum Plaza is just 5-10 minutes walk away from Baiyoke).

Try not to go for Suan Lum night market to buy stuffs as those stuffs they have there are from the wholesale area & they sell it at a higher price(which is double). Chatuchak is a nice place to go & it’s like triple the size of Mid Valley(of course Chatuchak doesn’t have four floors for you to shop la duh!). You can never finish walking within one day. The alleys there are closely packed with only merely two people can walk. That’s why Chatuchak is able to accomodate more than 10 thousand shops.

But Chatuchak is only opened on weekends as this is a weekend markets & they mostly do business with the locals. Therefore, stuffs there are almost the cheapest. Of course, the cheap stuffs there are like incense, candles, wood carvings & etc. Clothing, shoes & accesories are best to be bought at wholesale area. If you girls were to go there, please, please & please remember to wear tank tops, shorts, bring along a mini fan & clip up all your hairs. It’s freaking hot over there.

I noticed that the Thais love to eat roasted stuffs. They have roasted squids, roasted pig internal organs & etc. But those foods are very nice to be eaten. I love it there & the food is darn cheap. You can get a big packet of fried rice for only 10 baht(which is RM1). But you can hardly find bird nest & sharkfin(if you like them)at Bangkok(within the city area) unlike Hatyai that has it everywhere in the city.

But then again, the Thais in Bangkok close their shops earlier. Most shopping complexes & roadside shops are closed by 6 in the evening Bangkok time(which is 7PM Malaysian time). The night markets will be opened after 6PM Bangkok time. But usually, the night market sells the same thing as the wholesale shops but at a higher price.

I do notice that some of the shops in KL brough in clothes from Bangkok to sell. For example, I bought an empire-waisted top at Bangkok for RM30 & I saw the same top selling at Shopaholic(a shop at Bangsar if I am not mistaken)for RM89.90(in which I saw it today at FEMALE magazine).

The top that I bought from Bangkok

The one I saw at FEMALE mag December’s issue. It’s selling at RM89.90 at Shopaholics.

To see more of my shopping purchases, please go to Shopping Spree [December 2006] at MYB.

That’s all for now. Will update the LE + Christmas cosmetics pressies post soon! Till then.

Christmas LE packs.

forlic_pjann gave me a great idea what should i write about before flying off to Bangkok(yes, I am heading off tomorrow morning. can’t wait to shop till i drop & thanks frolic for giving me the idea!). It’s the time of the year where we have to cramp our brains to figure out what’s the suitable presents for our loved ones. But I guess when it comes to friends, soul sisters, bioligical sisters & mum, we sure can count on the LE sets that are being created by leading cosmetics brands for this festive season as gifts.

I do believe in giving others gifts that we personally like it ourselves(the same goes to how you treat others. if you want someone to treat you pretty well, then you must do the same as well!). Therefore, I will normally give things I personally like to my loved ones(except that I DO NOT give cosmetics to my father, my brother, my boyfriend & my boy friends. But I do give them skincare as gifts sometimes). So yes, I am gonna start off with limited editions cosmetics from leading cosmetic brands(sit tight ladies!).

First up is YSL Gold Celebration Palette Star Glow at rm183. I tried to find infos on it, but I failed(sorry girls! But will try to find more soon…).

Yves Saint Laurent Gold Celebration Palette Star Glow

Here’s one of my personal favourite….Lancome Glossy Charms Bracelet Ultra Shiny Hydrating Lip Gloss at RM95(phew….thank god I managed to pronounce it nicely after a few tries). It is said to have a delicious combination of 3 delicate, fresh and light shades with irresistible flavours. These 3 Juicy Tubes secretly leave a halo of light on your lips for glamorous makeup and a delicious mouth. What’s more, it can be used as a bracelet around your wrist of it can be used as an accessory to your bag or even belt!

This will definitely make the owner feels like a pwwwwinnnnncesssss(or might be a queen…that is if you want to).Benefit Valley of the Stars

Dior Pretty Charms

The pretty floral decorated compact includes a mirror for easy application and touch-ups on the go.

shown here is Stila Night Flower Deluxe Palette

Hello, everyone!

I am very glad indeed to be the first one to write in this blog. Hmm…what should I write about then? I am actually very clueless of how I should start this blog off with as I am new to blogging. Okay. That was a big fat lie from me. I started blogging since the year 2004(when I was 16 & it makes me 18 this year. I am kinda old huh?). What I used to blog about before this was just silly lil things that happened in my life. But blogging keeps me in track on how much I have grown & what I did in my life. So, to those that have yet to have a blog, get one started now! You’ll be surprised & amazed by those things in your record.

So yeah, this is a fashion blog & I am supposed to write something that has got to do with fashion right? Wait a sec…did I mention that I am a fashion disaster? To be honest, I have no sense of fashion at all. I was often teased by my friends to be the one that is so ‘outstanding’ from the rest & how ‘good’ my taste is when it comes to choosing clothes for myself & for my friends as presents. But does that stops me from doing what I want to do(that is writing here of course)? No, it doesn’t. This is where I could learn how to make myself presentable. It’s not that I want to be a fashion slave. But, you know…to at least make a few guys turn their heads & look at me twice when I walk pass. Is it too much to ask for? I certainly don’t think so cause EVERY girl deserves that. Agree with me(don’t you dare to say you don’t! Muahaha…)?

When it comes to make up, I am a complete disaster as well. I guess disaster is really my middle name after all. I started to learn the skill of putting on make up at the age of 17 when I got to know this particular guy(to be exact, my bf) as he was curious why on earth I do not put on make ups like any other girl. Silly as it to many of you, we went on to fight over this matter & I started to put on make up just to please him. Little did I know that I am actually falling in love with make ups. No, even though I am falling in love with make ups, I still couldn’t master this art to perfection. Was I too dumb for it? Maybe…who knows? Only time & expert would tell whether I am really too dumb fo it or just purely because I do not take in the right advise & apply to my already-way-too-volcanic-face.

Many of you would be wondering why a disaster like me would be in here writing about fashion when there are so many fashionistas out there & why on earth did Fred approved me? I am not here to pretend to that I know so much about fashion, makeups & everything girly. I am here so that everyone that is reading now would learn from my small lil mistakes & don’t follow my footsteps to be a fashionista(I sure hope that I am one) fashion disaster.

Oh yes….have I mentioned that I am
Andrienne?
