Marie Digby

The first time I heard of her songs were on TV when they were advertising new album that was out on store. I loved the voice and what attracted me, was her rendition on Umbrella. Yes, the Umbrella sung by Rihanna. Of course, it’s great with her rendition. Apparently, her lack of publicity led her to upload her renditions on youtube and wham!! The buzz was created. Don’t forget to check out her other great performances on What I’ve Done (Linkin Park) and Gimme More (Britney Spears). Her single, Say It Again is definitely a dope. She’s got good looks and what else to add besides good voice?

Check her studio album which is now out on store…..

Who do know know them right?

I have always loved this show but I was not one of those who followed the show. I caught this on DVDs and yes, I become addicted too. To cut short my words, let’s check out their dresses on the red carpet at the Sex and the City: The Movie world premiere.

So, whose dress would you pick?

Vitamin C Micro Refiner _ Facial Exfoliator

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

vitamin C micro refinerIt’s good to use, easy to apply, refreshed feeling it will leave you after just one wash. The tiny particles in the cream exfoliates and removes dead cells on our skin, almost immediately. The wash is definitely gentle to skin, not coarse. The wash is complemented with its toning effect as it doesn’t leave the skin dry after the wash. It’s a good investment, something you will not regret buying.

Beware of Garbage Trucks

Monday, May 5th, 2008

I found this article amusing and how true it is about what we do and how we can easily be affected, thus losing what we ought to have kept or done in the first place. Enjoy this read and hope Mr Pollay’s words could send some take-away messages for you :)

David J. Pollay

How often do you let other people’s nonsense change your mood? Do you let a bad driver, rude waiter, curt boss, or an insensitive employee ruin your day? Unless you’re the Terminator, you’re probably set back on your heels. However, the mark of your success is how quickly you can refocus on what’s important in your life.Sixteen years ago I learned this lesson. And I learned it in the back of a New York City taxi cab. Here’s what happened.I hopped in a taxi, and we took off for Grand Central Station. We were driving in the right lane when all of a sudden, a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, the car skidded, the tires squealed, and at the very last moment our car stopped just one inch from the other car’s back-end.

I couldn’t believe it. But then I couldn’t believe what happened next. The driver of the other car, the guy who almost caused a big accident, whipped his head around and he started yelling bad words at us. How do I know? Ask any New Yorker, some words in New York come with a special face. And he even threw in a one finger salute! I couldn’t believe it!

But then here’s what really blew me away. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was friendly. So, I said, “Why did you just do that!? This guy could have killed us!” And this is when my taxi driver told me what I now call, “The Law of the Garbage Truck™.” He said:

“Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they look for a place to dump it. And if you let them, they’ll dump it on you.
So when someone wants to dump on you, don’t take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Believe me. You’ll be happier.”
So I started thinking, how often do I let Garbage Trucks run right over me? And how often do I take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the street? It was then that I said, “I don’t want their garbage and I’m not going to spread it anymore.”

I began to see Garbage Trucks. Like in the movie “The Sixth Sense,” the little boy said, “I see Dead People.” Well now “I see Garbage Trucks.” I see the load they’re carrying. I see them coming to dump it. And like my taxi driver, I don’t take it personally; I just smile, wave, wish them well, and I move on.

One of my favorite football players of all time was Walter Payton. Every day on the football field, after being tackled, he would jump up as quickly as he hit the ground. He never dwelled on a hit. Payton was ready to make the next play his best. Over the years the best players from around the world in every sport have played this way: Tiger Woods, Nadia Comaneci, Muhammad Ali, Bjorn Borg, Chris Evert, Michael Jordan, Jackie Robinson, and Pele are just some of those players. And the most inspiring leaders have lived this way: Nelson Mandela, Mother Theresa, Gandhi, and Martin Luther King.

See, Roy Baumeister, a psychology researcher from the University of Florida, found in his extensive research that you remember bad things more often than good things in your life. You store the bad memories more easily, and you recall them more frequently.

So the odds are against you when a Garbage Truck comes your way. But when you follow The Law of the Garbage Truck™, you take back control of your life. You make room for the good by letting go of the bad.

The best leaders know that they have to be ready for their next meeting. The best sales people know that they have to be ready for their next client. And the best parents know that they have to be ready to welcome their children home from school with hugs and kisses, no matter how many garbage trucks they might have faced that day. All of us know that we have to be fully present, and at our best for the people we care about.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let Garbage Trucks take over their life.

What about you? What would happen in your life, starting today, if you let more garbage trucks pass you by?

Here’s my bet: You’ll be happier.

A glass of wine, maybe :)

Sunday, May 4th, 2008

It was a hot, humid Sunday afternoon. Seriously, I couldn’t think of what else to do except my projects piled up on my desk. Hello! It’s Sunday and I am alone at home. No one to talk to, no one was on msn, not even many mybians were around in the forum. How boring my Sunday is. I walked about the house, checked out the children who were playing at the mini park downstairs, pressing the buttons on the remote control, went back to my desk to finish off some words in my lappy and finally I decided to walk to the fridge. I saw that bottle. A bottle, sealed with black crisp paper, filled with sparkling wine, soft pink in colour. Yes. That’s it! I untwisted the lock and released the stopper. Pop! I heard and I could hear fizzy sound, a perfect start for a glass of sparkling wine. I had a glass, half a glass. I could start working once again, and the taste of the wine? Do I need to say more?

sparkling-rose.gifIf you’re looking for a similar wine to have for a lazy afternoon, or for light refreshments, go for this; Jacob’s Creek Sparkling Rose. Always remember, a good wine is not defined by the stars and awards it gets, but it’s how it sinks into your palate. It’s the stars that you give makes it a good one :)  Cheers!

Taxidermia

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

TaxidermiaWarning: May contain spoiler.

So what is this movie about when the title seems to suggest the life of a taxidermist? Frankly, call me obtuse if you want but the word taxidermist was never in my own dictionary. I have heard and seen the work of mounting animals for display. All I knew was just stuffing and mounting. What a frog I am!

Not too late :) Learning is just wonderful. I chanced upon this movie when I checked out the picturehouse. To feed my curiosity, I search for its trailer and was captivated by the scene that depicts a simple bathtub that was used for different occasions in the first story. I love how it was done, simple yet blossoming with meanings about life. My takeaway from this scene? Life is just life, someone’s life, cheap, worthless to mention coz it’s just life, life when we are all breathing and moving, be it human or animal, it’s just life, death is just the next phase. How scary huh?

I finally caught this last night after a long wait since its first opening on the 24th April. I had that ‘enough of waiting’ mood and I almost gave up on this. The show started on time, I couldn’t help but to be annoyed with so many late-comers and that really spoiled the first few minutes of the show. Late-comers did not just walk in and find their seats, but to stand in the middle aisle to catch every take of the movie. Well of course, that’s when the man masturbated, the girls were bathing in the tub, the peep, the negligence to house servant, the perversion out of care deprivation, and how he was shot in head for sleeping with the mistress. First story created laughters, disgusts, awe and sort of disbelief of what human can do in such deprivation.

The birth of a child with a pig’s tail marked the second part of the story. The boy was trained to compete in sports, speed eating contests. The love for someone, the politics, the self-esteem booster, the power one have in such contest, totally revolting with vomit scenes throughout this part of the story.

A surprising size of the child from the two renowned speed eaters couple flipped all pages to the last part of the movie. Small as he is, thin and despised by the obese father, he carried out his duty as a son and a taxidermist dutifully. He’s quiet, his stare is empty, his devotion in his work is meticulously perfect, but all come to an end after the death of his father. He turned all his attention in stuffing the body of his father and then created his own torso by taking out his internal organs, and finally cut off his own head and arm as the last piece of his work.

I did not go home with a heavy heart, cry nor laugh. I was in a daze! In a daze….

Olive Body Butter

Olive Body Butter

Nothing can beat this when it comes to body butter. Slap some on both hands, legs and body to feel its immediate work in moisturizing the dry, thirsty skin. In fact, olive proves its high standing in preserving and restoring youthfulness and beauty with its richness in Vitamin E and antioxidant. The layer of moisturizer stays comfortably on the skin without leaving the waxy or oily texture when we touch our hands. Its fragrance is definitely not pungent with ripe olive but oozing the creamy, soft olive fragrance.

If you’re looking for body lotion, think no further but to walk into any The Bodyshop counter for one of this.

Volume: 200ml

Application: Anytime, best after shower and before sleep. Just apply direct onto the skin and massage it.
